Event Description
This score-orienteering event explores the hilly 4.3 square-kilometer Ash Creek community surrounding the Smith School Sports Fields event center in SW Portland. You have 1 or 2 hours to find as many controls as possible in any order. Bring a watch to help avoid a point penalty for finishing late. You will use the MapRun® phone app to take credit for each control found (we have discontinued the use of Q&A sheets).​

Your placement in the results is dependent on the total number of points that you earn for controls found. Tie scores are broken by time on the course. The score value of each control is determined by the tens digit on the control number (for example, control 38 is worth 30 points).

You may do your course as an individual or as part of a team, but if you are part of a team, you must remain with your team at all times while competing.​
Register for the Event
You must register for this event online by 11 PM on Friday April 4, 2025. We use the Orienteering USA (OUSA) Event Register system to manage our events.

An OUSA account is not required. If you don't have an OUSA membership, select the Enter Data Manually option.

There is a $5 discount if you are a member of any orienteering club. If you want to save you can become a Mt Hood Orienteering member before registering for this event. A link is provided below.

The two prices separated by a slash ("/") reflect member/non-member rates. "Member" refers to a member of any orienteering club.

Your registration is not complete until you sign your waiver and pay your fees (adults must sign for minors).

Parents/Guardians, please register your minor children separately and sign the waver for them.​

All participants must be registered individually, even if they are part of a team.​​

If you are part of a team, enter the team name/ID on the registration form so that we can group you with your team for the starts and results.

After registration has closed, we will send an email out with the final instructions for the event.​
